Cyclonic storm Dana, originating from the Andaman Sea, will reach the Bay of Bengal by October 23. It will hit the Odisha-West Bengal coast on October 24. Meteorological Department officials said that from October 23, the wind speed in coastal Odisha-West Bengal is expected to reach 60 kmph, which will increase to 120 kmph in the night of October 24 in the morning from October 25.
IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra said heavy rains would begin on October 23, a day before the storm began. Some areas of Odisha-Bengal coastal zone may receive 20 cm of rainfall on October 24-25. In some places, more than 30 cm, or 11 inches (one foot) of rain, can fall.

Odisha: A red alert has been issued for isolated heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 20 cm) with extremely heavy rainfall (more than 20 cm) and lightning for Puri, Khurda, Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur districts on October 24. There is a possibility of a storm. .
Andhra Pradesh: The weather report says that there is also a chance of light to moderate rain in Andhra Pradesh.
