Maruti Suzuki showcased the EVX concept model at the 2023 Auto Expo.

Toyota’s first electric car will be based on the Maruti Suzuki EVX. Suzuki and Toyota released a joint statement on Wednesday (October 30) announcing their first collaboration in the electric vehicle (EV) segment. However, no information on the name or specifications of this electric vehicle has been provided.

According to the release, Toyota’s first electric car will be an SUV, which will be manufactured at Suzuki Motor Group’s plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat. It has become clear that Toyota’s first electric vehicle will be based on the Maruti Suzuki EVX, as Maruti plans to launch its first electric SUV next year.

It was stated in the release that the production of this electric SUV will begin in the last quarter of 2025. Both versions of the SUV will be launched in the Indian market first. After that, both models will be exported to overseas markets like Japan, the Middle East and Europe.

An electric SUV was seen during testing Recently, this electric car has been seen several times during testing. Many design elements from the concept version of the Japan Mobility Expo are visible there. It will have a closed grille with a Y-shaped LED DRL, a flush door handle and connected taillights. The cabin of the EVX will have a futuristic design, which will have an integrated dual screen like the new cars.

Range of up to 550 km on full charge For performance, the eVX will be equipped with a 60 kWh battery and an electric motor. The company claims that this car will offer a range of up to 550 km once fully charged. However, a smaller battery variant with a range of around 400 km can also be found in this production model. At the same time, the power figures have not yet been revealed.

The car is based on Toyota’s 40PL platform. The eVX is based on Toyota’s 40PL platform designed for electric vehicles, in which space has been provided for mounting batteries on the floor. With this, the interior of the car will be quite spacious. This electric vehicle will be manufactured at Suzuki’s manufacturing plant in Gujarat. After Maruti Suzuki, Toyota will also launch a new electric SUV in the Indian market.
