Rishi Sunak will now be replaced by a black woman, Kemi Badenoch, in the Conservative Party, one of the largest British parties. She was elected leader of the British Conservative Party. She is the first black woman to hold this position in Britain. Badenoch, 44, won 57% of the vote and beat Robert Jenrick in the party leadership election.
Opposition Labor Party leader and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also congratulated Badenoch on his victory. Starmer said it was a matter of pride for the whole country that a black woman was elected leader of the party.
At the same time, Badenoch said she doesn’t like to place much emphasis on her ethnic identity. Asked about this at the Conservative Party convention, he said that not much importance should be given to the color of skin, hair or eyes.

Kemi promises changes within the party After winning the elections, Badenoch promised to revitalize the party. “Now is the time to tell the truth,” he said. In fact, in July the Conservative Party was defeated in elections led by former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Change is expected within the Conservative Party under Badenoch’s leadership. Kemi promised that she would return the party to its core principles after winning the elections.

Who is Kemi Badenoch Kemi was born in Wimbledon, London in 1980 and grew up in Nigeria. After some time, she returned to London to study. At just 16 years old, she was working at McDonald’s alongside her studies.
After that, Badenoch graduated with a degree in computer science from the University of Sussex. He began his career in the banking sector. But Badenoch left the banking sector to enter politics. At the age of 25, he joined the Conservative Party.
She previously served in the London Assembly, then was elected as an MP in 2017. Two years later, former Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed her as Parliamentary Secretary of State for Children and Families. In 2021, she was appointed Minister for Equality and in 2022, she was appointed Secretary of State for International Trade.
