It is October 22, 2012. It was a typical day for southern actress Bidushi Das Barde, 23, who lives in a cooperative housing society in Andheri (West).
South superstar Kamal Haasan was once seen in a big film with Jyothika and Bidushi, who was Miss Chennai 2006, was away from the cinema for a while and spent most of her time at home with her husband.
That day, her husband Kedar had left home for work at 7:50 a.m. as usual. Bidushi left her husband till the door and then closed the door. As soon as he arrived at the office, around 9:30 a.m., Kedar called Bidushi, but she did not answer. Usually this did not happen, but considering him busy with his work, Kedar kept busy with his office work.
After a few hours, he called Bidushi again, but still got no response. This time he was worried. He made several calls one after the other, but Bidushi did not answer his calls and did not see the messages.
After the work was completed, Kedar returned home around 8 p.m. He kept ringing the doorbell, but there was no response from inside. When I listened to the door, the sound of the television came from inside. After waiting for a long time, he opened the door with a spare key. As soon as he entered the house, the scene was heartbreaking. Bidushi lay drenched in blood in the corridor. There were deep wounds to his face and neck caused by pieces of broken glass.
Seeing such a state of his wife, Kedar shivered. With the help of the owner, he took his wife to Ambani Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. He had died hours ago.
The glass wounds on Bidushi’s face pointed to a larger conspiracy. A murder complaint was filed, but even after 12 years, the mystery of his death remains unsolved.
Today in 3 chapters of Ansuni Dastaan, read the death story of southern actress and model Bidushi Das Barde, whose life was cut short in just 23 years.
Bidushi Das Barde was born in Odisha in 1989. After spending a few years in Odisha, Bidushi moved to Chennai. He was interested in the world of entertainment from a very young age. After completing her studies, she entered the world of modeling at the age of 17. In 2006, she participated in the Miss Chennai beauty pageant and also secured the title of second runner-up.
After this competition, the doors of South Film Industry opened to Bidushi. After a few small South films, she was seen in the Tamil film Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu released in 2006. Kamal Haasan and Jyotika played the lead roles in this film.
Bidushi was only 20 years old when, while making her mark in cinema, she met Kedar, a software engineer by profession. Kedar was only 3 years older than him. As they spent time together, the two began to like each other. The family was against the relationship, but they both married in 2009.
After a year and a half of marriage, in 2010, they both moved to Mumbai and started living in a rented apartment in Andheri (west). The same place where his body was found on October 22, 2012.
As soon as the Mumbai Police found the body, his body was taken to JJ from Mumbai. Once he arrived at the hospital, an investigation was opened. According to Cooper Hospital sources, the Vile Parle autopsy center revealed that Bidushi Das died due to a cut caused by a sharp weapon and excessive bleeding. He had suffered hemorrhagic shock due to a deep neck wound. The nails and hair of deceased Bidushi have also been sent for forensic examination. According to the post-mortem report, Bidushi had died on the morning of October 22.
The police, who arrived at the scene with forensic experts, noticed that the glass of a cabinet located near where Bidushi’s body was found was broken. There were pieces of the same glass on the floor and on Bidushi’s neck, cheeks and hands. However, there was no trace of blood on the cupboard.
Initially, the police started the investigation from the angle of theft, but according to the statement of her husband Kedar, no items were missing from the house. As there was no robbery aspect, the police registered a case of murder and started an investigation. The police initially suspected Kedar, Bidushi’s husband, as there were no signs of a break-in in the house. According to Kedar’s statement, when he returned home, the door was locked from inside. Only Kedar had the duplicate keys of the house.
Under suspicion, when the Mumbai Police questioned Bidushi’s husband Kedar, he revealed his wife’s illness and quarrel. According to the Mumbai Police, his behavior suddenly changed.
According to Kedar’s statement, both had been going through difficult times for a long time. The financial situation was bad and Bidushi was also not getting films. Kedar, a software engineer by profession, had a salary of just Rs 60,000, out of which he paid Rs 22,000 as rent. Some time ago, Bidushi had undergone eyelid surgery and hair transplant.
Kedar had said in the police statement that there was a scuffle between the two over an issue on Sunday, a day before Bidushi’s death. The next morning after the fight, he leaves for work at 7:30 a.m. He sent a message to Bidushi around 8:15 p.m. to inquire about her well-being, to which she did not respond.
After sending a message to Bidushi, Kedar spoke to his father, who is a lieutenant colonel. After that, he made 3 consecutive calls to Bidushi, which he did not respond to. Kedar and Bidushi’s family was against their love marriage which is why Kedar did not speak to Bidushi’s family. But when Bidushi did not pick up the call that day, a worried Kedar called his father, who is an Air Force officer, for the first time after his marriage. He said Bidushi did not respond even after calling several times. My father had also called him several times.
Many times, Bidushi would faint while walking.
According to Kedar, Bidushi was diabetic and also had blood pressure problems. This had happened several times, when she fainted while walking. She also fainted several times at home due to low blood pressure. According to Kedar, he was also undergoing psychiatric treatment. Kedar’s statement was confirmed by his call recordings and Bidushi’s medical reports.
Society committee member Raju Sandhu told police that they did not speak to anyone and did not participate in any society activities. Both were mostly absent or busy with their work.
Bidushi received 80 calls the day she died and received many modeling projects in messages the same day
When the Mumbai Police closely examined Bidushi’s call records, it was revealed that she had received 80 calls on the day of her death, most of which were from her husband Kedar and her father. The father had also sent numerous messages to Bidushi, in which he continually asked her to answer calls. Bidushi, who had been looking for work for several days, had received many offers from models through messages. The call recordings also contained call messages from an officer who asked him to return Rs 25,000.
A doctor who was treating Bidushi also came to meet him that afternoon, but when he reached home, the door did not open. In such a situation, he returned without meeting Bidushi.
According to the PTI report, a woman working in the area told police that she saw a man leaving Bidushi’s house. However, no evidence of this was found in the CCTV footage.
A week passed, then a month, then a year, but the real cause of Bidushi’s death could not be revealed. The police also did not have solid evidence against her husband Kedar. Eventually, after about a year, police closed the case, calling it an accidental death. Closing the case, the police wrote in the report that after observing the condition of the dead body, the police registered a case of murder following a misunderstanding. Even if it was an accident. That day, Bidushi must have fainted due to low blood pressure and fell against the cupboard, due to which the glass broke and hit her body.
Many people objected to this report and the accidental death claim. Bidushi’s father Shantanu Das also spoke of murder, but the results were nil. Forensic experts also said it was impossible for such a serious injury to have occurred simply from falling into glass, although that case was never reopened. Even today, after 12 years, the mystery of Bidushi’s death remains unsolved.
