Prime Minister Vidyalakshmi’s plan was approved at the Modi cabinet meeting held in New Delhi on Wednesday. Under this, the Indian government will provide a 75% credit guarantee on loans up to Rs 7.5 lakh for higher education.
Children from families with an annual income of Rs 8 lakh will also get an interest subsidy of 3% on loans up to Rs 10 lakh. Students with an annual income of up to Rs 4.5 lakh already get full interest subsidy.
More than 22 lakh students from 860 major higher education centers in the country will benefit from this programme.

October 24: Government to spend Rs 1,000 crore on space sector startups. The Indian government will spend Rs 1,000 crore to promote startups in the space sector. It will be spent in five years. Rs 150 crore will be spent in 2025-26, Rs 250 crore each in 2026-27, 2027-28 and 2028-29, Rs 100 crore will be spent in 2029-30.

A new 57 km railway line will be laid between Errupalem and Namburu via Amaravati. It will pass through NTR Vijayawada and Guntur districts of Andhra Pradesh and Khammam district of Telangana.
The doubling in Bihar will increase connectivity with Nepal and northeast India. There will be convenience in the movement of goods trains as well as passenger trains. The two projects will cover 8 districts in three states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Bihar. …
October 9: Free food grains for poor till December 2028 In the Union Cabinet meeting held on October 9, approval was given for construction of 2,280 km of roads with an investment of Rs 4 406 crore in the border areas of Rajasthan and Punjab.
Approval was also given to continue free provision of fortified rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PM-GKAY) and other welfare schemes from July 2024 to December 2028. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said that Rs 17,082 crore would be spent on this, which would be entirely borne by the central government.
