Ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) mini auction, all 5 teams have released their retention lists. Teams were required to report player retention by 5 p.m. today. Teams have released players like Sneh Rana, Isabelle Wong and Heather Knight.

1. Champion RCB released 2 foreign players. Royal Challengers Bangalore, the team that won the WPL 2024, have released 7 players. Among them are also 2 foreigners. The team released England captain Heather Knight and Nadine de Klerk, who replaced her last season.
The team led by Smriti Mandhana retained Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux, Sophie Devine, Georgia Wareham and Kat Cross. Before the auction, the team also included Danny Wyatt in their team by trading him from the UP Warriors.
2. Mumbai Indians: First season champions Mumbai Indians retained 18 players and released 4. The biggest name among the released players is England all-rounder Isabel Wong. He contributed greatly to making the tag team champion in the first season.
Mumbai have retained 5 foreign players, including Amelia Kerr, Chloe Tryon, Hayley Matthews, Nate Siver-Brunt and Shabnim Ismail. The team also retained captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Yastika Bhatia, Pooja Vastrakar and Saika Ishaq.
3. Delhi Capitals: The Delhi Capitals team, which was runners-up in both seasons, also released only 4 players. The biggest name among them was the all-rounder Laura Harris. Besides him, the team also released Indian spinner Poonam Yadav.

4. UP Warriors The UP team, led by Elise Hilli, released 5 players. The team traded Danny Wyatt to RCB, while releasing fast bowler Lauren Bell. Both are English players. The team also let 3 Indian players go.
Besides Hilli, UP’s overseas players include Chamari Atapattu, Grace Harris, Sophie Eccleston and Tahlia McGrath. Among the Indian players, the team has Kiran Navgire, Deepti Sharma and Shweta Sehrawat.
5. Gujarat Giants: Gujarat Giants, who placed fifth in both seasons of WPL, released 6 players. The team also did not keep Sneh Rana, Veda Krishnamurthy and Lee Tahuhu in the team. Their overseas players are now captain Beth Mooney, Laura Walwart, Phoebe Litchfield and Ashley Gardner. The team does not have many big names among the Indian players.
Gujarat has the highest stock market. After player retention, there are 4 vacant player places on the 4 teams. Whereas in UP, only 3 players are needed. There is a squad of 18 players in a team. Gujarat has the highest purse of Rs 4.40 crore. At the same time, Delhi will enter the auction with a purse of Rs 2.50 crore and Mumbai with Rs 2.65 crore. UP is left with Rs 3.90 crore and Bengaluru is left with Rs 3.25 crore.
