Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the new generation model of its best-selling sedan Dezire. The company is gearing up to launch the car on November 11. The fourth generation Maruti Suzuki Dezire is based on the company’s Maruti Swift hatchback platform, but is completely different in design. The car was presented with a sunroof, 6 airbags as standard and many features new to the segment.
The sedan will be launched in the market only in 5 variants: LXI, VXI, VXI(O), ZXI and ZXI+. The ex-showroom price of the updated model is expected to start at Rs 6.99 lakh. Currently, the price of Dezire starts at Rs 6.57 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor in the sedan segment. The company claims that the CNG version of the car will give a mileage of 33.73 km/kg.
Interior: Design inspired by the Swift facelift and fascias It features a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, sleek air vents and HVAC controls at the bottom.
Apart from this, the car is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car technology, 40+ connected car features, wireless charger, semi-digital cluster with 4.2-inch MID, steering wheel-mounted controls, automatic climate control, push-button. A rear parking camera with sensors and much more will be available.
Performance: A new Z-series gasoline engine will be available. The biggest change in the popular sedan will be its powertrain. Instead of the K12 four-cylinder petrol engine found in the current model, it will now get a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series petrol engine, which powers the new Swift. This engine generates a power of 82 hp and a torque of 112 Nm.
In comparison, the current model generates 90 hp and 113 Nm, or 8 hp and 1 Nm less. The new Swift will have the option of a 5-speed manual and automatic gearbox (AMT) along with the engine for the transmission.
