How to keep children safe in the car during the trip? What to do if the child is locked in the car?
Expert – Dr Anshu Sharma, Pediatrician (Mathura)
Question: A child can die if left locked in the car for a long time. Why does this happen
Answer: If you stay in a closed car for a long time, the air flow stops, resulting in a decrease in the oxygen level inside the car. Gradually, the carbon dioxide level in the car begins to increase and the oxygen level begins to decrease. After a while, breathing becomes impossible and the person inside begins to suffocate. Additionally, due to heat, the level of carbon monoxide inside the car also increases. It also causes suffocation inside.
Aside from that, if the car is parked in the sun and the air conditioning is off, the temperature inside can quickly become almost double that outside. In such a situation, suffocation may also occur due to overheating.
Overall, it is not possible to breathe for a long time inside a closed vehicle. If someone gets stuck in such a situation for a long time, they may die due to their inability to breathe.

This sign is placed to alert other drivers, so that they can be more careful when overtaking the car.
