Korean automaker Kia Motors today (November 22) unveiled the EV9 GT electric SUV to the global market. This is an updated version of the EV9 standard. It benefits from a more powerful engine configuration, cosmetic and mechanical updates compared to the standard EV9. The car generates a power of 501HP.
The company claims that the car can accelerate from 0 to 96 kilometers per hour in just 4.3 seconds and that it is the most powerful three-row electric SUV so far. The EV9 GT will go on sale for the first time in North America next year. After that it will be sold to other countries.
For safety reasons, it comes with features like 9 airbags, 360-degree camera, and ADAS level 2. The company introduced the car only in GT version with a 6-seater configuration. Once launched in India, the Kia EV9 GT will compete with the Mercedes EQE, BMW iX and Audi Q8 e-tron SUVs. Kia recently launched the standard EV9 in India for Rs 1.3 crore.
Exterior Design: Digital Pattern Lighting Grille Kia has made some cosmetic changes to differentiate the EV9 GT from the standard model. Modern LED lighting elements have been installed at the front of the Kia EV9. It features two clusters of small cube lamps, a digital pattern lighting grille, vertical headlights and the signature “digital tiger face” with “star map” LED daytime running lights. The company has named it Star Map DRL.
On the flagship SUV side, the company has offered 21-inch alloy wheels and high-performance tires instead of 19-inch alloy wheels. The wheels get upgraded brakes with neon green calipers with GT badging inside. Apart from this, a tapered roofline, flush door handle, bright finished wheel arches and body cladding are provided.
At the rear, a black bumper with a vertically stacked LED tail lamp and a silver skid plate is provided. The overall appearance of the car is that of a boxy, SUV body.
