A year before the shooting of Munnabhai MBBS, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra had handed over a check of Rs 2 lakh to Boman. He said I’ll make a movie next year, you’ll work on it, so keep that money. Vidhu knew that if Boman entered films, it would be difficult for him to get dates.
Some interesting stories related to the life of Boman Irani, born on December 2, 1959.
Boman did photography 5 days a week and theater 2 days Just before venturing into films, Boman did photography. He did photography 5 days a week, while doing theater two days, Saturday and Sunday. One way or another, he wanted to get into acting. However, he doubted his abilities.
In an old interview with Rajya Sabha TV, Boman had said, “At the age of 35, I worked in two or three English plays. All these plays have become the most famous in the history of English theater. Many big producers and directors came to see my play. He also asked me to act in films. I even rejected some films at first. I didn’t want to give up my career as a photographer.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s attention fell on a short film by Boman, and then luck changed. Even though Boman was hesitant to venture into acting, luck knocked at his door again and again. Boman would have been around 42 years old when he got the opportunity to work in a short film. This time he worked on this film without thinking.
Watch the game of destiny, veteran filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra saw this short film from somewhere. He called Boman and offered him the film. There were 14 days of filming. He also ran a bakery at his home and sold fries there. We have already told you that before getting into cinema, Boman did photography, although photography was not his first profession. Previously, he ran his own bakery. His bakery mainly made chips. He filtered the chips in a brick kiln, packaged them and sold them in his store. Bowman ran the bakery for nearly 12 years. This bakery did not bring in much income, only household expenses were covered.
My mother fell ill, so I had to take care of the family bakery. Running the family bakery was not a hobby, it was an obligation. In fact, his mother ran this bakery. There was no father, so the mother supported the family through the bakery. Suddenly she started getting sick. Boman was then forced to take over the bakery.
Also worked as a waiter and bartender at the Taj Hotel Before taking over the bakery, Boman worked as a waiter at the famous Taj Hotel in Mumbai. Between 1979 and 1980, he worked as room service, waiter and bartender.
Boman’s parents wanted their son to become a lawyer or a doctor. This was not possible as Boman was never good at studies. Growing up, earning money was a challenge, so he started working as a waiter at a young age.
Boman also completed a 2-year waiter course from a college in Mumbai.
In real life, Boman Boman played the role of an arrogant and rude university dean in the film 3 Idiots, who was strictly against the “virus” ideology. His character was called Virus in the film. The virus still insists that children must do what their parents want, even if their dreams must be shattered in the process. In real life, Boman is completely against this mentality of his character Virus.
He had said in an interview to Indianewsget, “If a child does not get good grades, it does not mean that he does not know anything. Perhaps his interest lies in another area. Sachin Tendulkar’s interest was in cricket, if he had been made to do any other job, he might not have been able to give his best.
In the film 3 Idiots, Boman played an iconic character who is still remembered today.
I have never seen a genius mind like Boman Irani – Vivaan Shah Actor Vivaan Shah, who worked with Boman Irani in the film Happy New Year, shared some things. He said, “I think in the history of Indian cinema, there will be only a few select people whose minds work at a different level. Boman Irani is one of them. I have never seen a genius like him. He behaves like an athlete in front of the camera.
I would like to compare him to the famous Hollywood actor Jack Nicholson (three times Oscar winner). The spark and brilliance that was there in Jack Nicholson, I see in Boman sir.
Boman is also a very good player. Vivaan said that Boman is also a very good player. Vivaan said, “We were playing PlayStation at home. I used to defeat his team over and over again. He and I were on the same team. He played brilliantly, while I played very poorly. Because of me, they were losing. There was a lot of talk about “Tu-Tu, Main-Main”.
