Bajaj Auto launched the world’s first CNG bike Freedom-125 in Pune on Friday, July 5.
Bajaj Auto has reduced the price of its CNG Freedom-125 bike by up to Rs 10,000. The base drum variant of the bike has become cheaper by Rs 5 and the mid-range LED drum variant has become cheaper of Rs 10,000. At the same time, the price of the top variant is still kept at Rs 1.10 lakh only. After the price cut, it is priced between Rs 89,997 and Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bajaj has announced a price cut for the world’s first CNG bike within 6 months of its launch. The company launched the Bajaj Freedom 125 in the Indian market on July 5 this year. There are two fuel options to run the bike, namely a 2 liter petrol tank and a 2 kg CNG tank. Filling them once will give a mileage of 330 km.
The rider can switch from CNG to gasoline and from gasoline to CNG with just one button. More than 11 bicycle safety tests have been carried out. The tank did not leak even after a truck loaded with 10 tons fell on it. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari claimed that the cost of running a CNG two-wheeler will be around Rs 1 per kilometer.

The bike is equipped with a switch to switch from gasoline to CNG.
100 km mileage per kg in CNG When completely filled with petrol, the weight of the CNG tank is 18 kg. The company claims a mileage of 100 km/kg on CNG and 65 kpl using petrol. It has a 125 cc single-cylinder engine, which generates a power of 9.5 hp and a maximum torque of 9.7 Nm. This engine can run on both gasoline and CNG.

The Freedom 125 bike has the longest saddle in the segment. The seat length is 785 mm. A common fuel tank cap cover is provided for CNG and gasoline filling. A 2kg CNG tank is placed under the saddle of the Freedom 125 bike. The bike features a strong trellis frame and a premier linked monoshock. The CNG bike features an inverted LED console with Bluetooth connectivity. It will be exported to Egypt, Tanzania, Colombia, Peru, Bangladesh and Indonesia.
Bajaj will also offer CNG bikes in different segments. Rajeev Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, said, “The company will target customers worried about rising running costs with the CNG model. Bajaj says, “We are going to create a range of CNG bikes, which will include 100 CC, 125 CC and 150-160 CC bikes.”
