The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned the American National Cricket League (NLC). The ICC has written a letter to the United States of America Cricket (USAC) informing it of its decision not to sanction future editions of the league. It was written in the letter that the rules of the eleven-a-side game were not respected in the league. 6-7 foreign players played in this T-10 format tournament.

The first season of the NCL ran from October 4 to 14. Chicago CC, led by Robin Uthappa, won the title by defeating the Atlanta Kings by 43 points. Cricket god Sachin Tendulkar presented him with the trophy.

What rules were violated?

According to ICC rules, every team playing in the league should have at least 7 American players in their playing XI, but in many matches 6-7 foreign players were used in the matches which was very bad. . League officials also violated U.S. immigration rules to give opportunities to foreign players. For a sports category visa in America, it costs at least 2 lakh US dollars for 6 teams. Many players did not come on a sports visa to save money.

Raina, Karthik and Afridi participated in this league. Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik and veteran Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi participated.

Names like Tendulkar, Gavaskar and Akram associated with the league: NCL had made former cricketers like Wasim Akram and Vivian Richards as brand ambassadors. It included Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar in its ownership group.
