Tata Nexon is the country’s first car, available in four variants: petrol, diesel, CNG and electric.

Tata Motors today (September 24) launched the CNG version of its most popular car, the Nexon. This compact SUV is equipped with a turbo gasoline engine. So this is the first car in India to come with a turbo petrol engine and a CNG combination. The company claims that the car will travel 24 kilometers on one kg of CNG.

Nexon now gets a panoramic sunroof and a CNG powertrain. Tata has introduced Nexon iCNG in four variants – 8 variants. Its price starts at Rs 8.99 lakh for the Smart variant, going up to Rs 14.59 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) for the top Fearless Plus PS variant.

The CNG version of the car costs a lakh rupees more than the regular petrol model, which is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 11.20 lakh. The diesel version of Nexon is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 15.29 lakh. Tata Nexon iCNG competes with Maruti Brezza SCNG and Maruti Front SCNG.

Twin-cylinder tank configuration with a capacity of 60 liters There have been no changes in the exterior and interior design of the Nexon iCNG. The biggest change is getting started. Here you will see twin-cylinder technology. This technology features a twin-cylinder tank configuration (two cylinders of 30 liters each) with a capacity of 60 liters. This gives the Nexon iCNG a boot space of 321 liters, which is 61 liters less than the petrol and diesel variants.

Gas leak detection safety function Like other models, Tata Motors Nexon iCNG has the safety feature of gas leak detection. In the event of a CNG leak in the car, the leak detection technology automatically switches the vehicle from CNG mode to gasoline mode. This technology also alerts the driver in the event of a gas leak.

Apart from this, a micro switch has been provided to keep the car off while fueling. This switch turns off the ignition as soon as the fuel tank cover is opened. This prevents the car from starting until the fuel tank lid is closed securely. It also issues a “Close Fuel Cover” alert on the instrument cluster.

Performances: Gasoline, Diesel, CNG and Electric For the performance of the Tata Nexon iCNG, a 1.2 liter turbo-petrol CNG has been provided, which generates a power of 100 hp and a torque of 170 Nm. While in the ICE version of the Nexon, this engine generates a power of 120 hp and a torque of 170 Nm. With this, the choice between a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a DCT gearbox (transmission 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 6-speed AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox is available.

Apart from this, Nexon also has a 1.5 liter diesel engine with a power of 115 hp and a torque of 260 Nm, with which the option of a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed AMT gearbox is available. Tata Nexon also exists in an electric version. It thus becomes the first car in the country to be offered in four versions: gasoline, diesel, CNG and electric.

Exterior: A new design LED setup and alloy wheels will be available. Speaking of design, the Nexon iCNG is similar to its regular gasoline-diesel model. A new LED DRL split headlight setup has been featured at the front. Below, LED headlights have been installed on the sporty bumper.

16-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels will be available on the side. A fully connected LED tail light is provided at the rear, which the company calls ‘X Factor tail light’. Welcome and goodbye feature is also available there.

Interior: 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system A two-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom is provided in the cabin of the car. Apart from this, the car gets a touchscreen HVAC unit on the dashboard and a new gear selector on the center console. Tata Nexon CNG will get a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Ventilated front seats are provided in the top variant of the car.

Features: Power sunroof with voice control Tata Nexon is equipped with many advanced features. These include Tata’s IRA 2.0 connected mobile technology, voice-assisted power sunroof, 9-speaker JBL audio system, wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the world’s first navigation display segment on the instrument cluster. Apart from this, cruise control, height-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery and electric panoramic sunroof with voice control are also available in the top variant of the car.
