Luxury carmakers Audi and Porsche have recalled their electric vehicles due to technical defects. The companies told the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) that a defect in the battery module supplier system of the recalled vehicles had been identified.

This company recall includes Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT models manufactured between January 9, 2020 and February 16, 2024. Meanwhile, 176 Porsche models, manufactured between October 21, 2019 and March 4, 2024, are included.

Fault in Battery Module Supplier System According to SIAM, a faulty battery module supplier system in recalled Porsche models can cause a short circuit and thermal throttling followed by fire. At the same time, defects were found in various cell modules of the high-voltage batteries in Audi vehicles. This could cause the high voltage battery to overheat and present a fire hazard.

No fees will be charged to the customer. Porsche says this problem will be resolved soon. Owners of affected models are advised to contact official Porsche dealers for further details.

At the same time, Audi India said that the official workshop will contact the owners of the models, where the defect will be corrected. Both companies said vehicle owners would be notified about replacement of defective parts. No fees will be charged to the customer for repairing defects or replacing parts.
