BJP leader Anurag Thakur told a press conference in Delhi on Saturday that the government suffered a loss of Rs 2,026 crore due to the AAP’s liquor policy.
25 days before the assembly elections, the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General of India) report regarding Delhi’s liquor policy was leaked. In this, it was said that the government would incur a revenue loss of Rs 2,026 crore.
India Today claimed to have a copy of the report. The report said there were numerous irregularities in alcohol policy, including licensing shortcomings. Along with this, AAP leaders allegedly benefited from bribes.
It was reported in the report that the group of ministers led by the deputy chief minister had rejected the suggestions of the expert group. The cabinet had approved the policy and for many important decisions the approval of the then Lieutenant Governor was not even obtained.
According to the report, despite complaints, everyone was allowed to bid in the auction. Those who suffered losses were also issued licenses or renewed. The CAG report is yet to be tabled in the Delhi Assembly.
The new liquor policy was implemented in Delhi in 2021. Many questions have been raised regarding the allocation of licenses. The policy had to be withdrawn. Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia have been accused of corruption. Both also went to prison. I had to leave the position of CM and deputy CM. Currently on bail.
