Armed rebels carried out three attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Friday. According to media reports, in the first attack, rebels fired hand grenades at the house of Balochistan Finance Minister Shoaib Nausherwani in Karan. In the second incident, grenades were thrown at the house of the Deputy Commissioner of Kalat. A police guard was seriously injured in the attack.

The third attack was carried out against the Mastung police station. The rebels looted weapons, wireless sets and motorcycles here. In addition, a cement factory located nearby was also set on fire.

According to police, on Thursday, rebels also looted a bank and a police station in Khuzdar. According to the police, the rebels of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) are behind all these attacks.

Last week, the BLA attacked a Pakistani army convoy near Turbat in Balochistan. According to media reports, 47 soldiers were killed in this attack, while more than 30 were injured.

The TTP kidnapped workers from the Khyber nuclear power plant. On the other hand, on Thursday, the Afghan Taliban and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked Makin and Malikhel military posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with rockets and mortars. After this, 16 workers of the Lakki Marwat nuclear power plant in Khyber were kidnapped.

All these workers were returning home after finishing their work. Later, the police rescued 8 of these workers, while 8 are still in captivity.

TTP had also released a video of the kidnapped workers. The TTP wanted the release of its soldiers in exchange for these workers.

What is the Baloch Liberation Army? According to Deutsche Welle, the BLA is the largest Baloch militant group in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. He has been railing against the Pakistani government for decades. This group demands the independence of Balochistan and drives China out of its regions. BLA has carried out several attacks targeting Pakistani security forces and China’s CPEC project.

Most Baloch people living in Balochistan are angry with the Pakistani government. These people say the government is abusing their region’s natural resources. BLA claims that local people receive no share of the profits from these resources.

BLA was established with the aim of being independent from Pakistan.

Claim: Russian KGB provided training

According to media reports, the Baloch army has thousands of fighters. After 2006, the BLA became a very difficult challenge for the Pakistani army and government. Hundreds of Pakistani soldiers were killed in these attacks.

Some BLA fighters are believed to have been trained by Russia’s former intelligence agency, the KGB, in Moscow. Later, these people trained their colleagues.
