Maruti Suzuki unveiled its first electric car e-Vitara at the India Global Mobility Expo-2025. The Maruti car was introduced with two battery options. This includes 49 kWh and 61 kWh batteries. The company claims that the car will travel more than 500 kilometers on a single full charge. This electric SUV will be produced at the Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited plant from February 2025. It is expected to be available for sale in Europe, Japan and India by June.

The Maruti E Vitara price can be around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base model with 49 kWh battery. At the same time, the price of the model with 61 kWh battery and high-power motor can be kept at Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from this, the price of the e-Allgrip AWD version can be kept at Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). In the Indian market, the E Vitara electric SUV will compete with the MG ZS EV, Tata Curve EV, Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra BE05.

Maruti’s parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation had unveiled it in the global market at the EICMA-2024 auto show held in Milan, Italy in October last year. This mid-size electric SUV named e-Vitara is the production version of the EVX, which was first showcased at the Auto Expo-2023.

Exterior: LED headlights and 19-inch black wheels The Suzuki E Vitara was developed on the new Heartect-E platform, which the company developed in collaboration with Toyota. The exterior design of the Suzuki E Vitara is similar to the EVX concept model. Its front end features slim LED headlights and integrated fog lights with Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and a sleek bumper.

The midsize SUV looks quite muscular from the side with its body cladding and black 19-inch wheels. The rear hatch door handle is placed on the C-pillar. Apart from this, there is also an electric sunroof on the roof. Like the concept version, the rear of the E Vitara features a connected LED taillight with a 3-part lighting element.

Interior: 6 airbags will be standard and an electronic parking brake will be available. The dual-tone black and orange interior was offered on the E-Vitara. It features a 2-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and chrome accents around the vertically oriented air vents. The highlight of its cabin is the integrated floating screen setup, in which one is the infotainment and the other is the driver’s display.

Suzuki has not disclosed the specifications of the E Vitara, but it is expected that features such as automatic climate control, ventilated front seats and wireless phone charger may be provided in Maruti’s electric car. At the same time, for safety reasons, it will have safety features such as 6 airbags as standard, 360-degree camera and electronic parking brake.

The company has not yet revealed the certified range of the E Vitara, but it is expected that its fully charged range could reach 500 kilometers. The car will also have the option of 2WD and 4WD.
