Actor Mukesh Khanna, who became popular in every household by playing the characters of Bhishma Pitamah and ‘Shaktimaan’ in BR Chopra’s ‘Mahabharata’, was once called a copy cat.
Mukesh said in a recent interview that early in his career, people compared him to megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Even Amitabh himself once said that he imitated him.
At the beginning of his career from 1981 to 1985, Mukesh Khanna made 5 films but they did not work. After that, he rose to prominence by playing the role of Bhishma Pitamah in the TV show ‘Mahabharata’.
The media had also called Mithun a poor man’s Bachchan. In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Mukesh said, “The media once called Mithun Chakraborty a ‘poor man’s Amitabh Bachchan’. I don’t know how they reacted, but if someone had told me that, I would have said shut up. He said you are copying Amitabh.
Mukesh told that Amitabh himself once said that this boy is copying me.
The flop didn’t happen because of Amit ji. In the interview, when Mukesh was asked if Amitabh Bachchan had ever said that he imitated him, Mukesh replied, “He had said that, but will I fail because of that?” Who is Amit Ji, who can stop my career?
He said – He copies me Mukesh added, “A friend of mine had told me this while watching a film with Amit ji. Meanwhile my ad came and after seeing it Amit ji said this boy is copying me.
Mukesh Khanna derives his real identity from India’s first superhero character, ‘Shaktimaan’.
Mukesh Khanna made his acting debut in 1981 with the film ‘Roohi’. After that, he was seen in ‘Captain Barry’ and ‘Dard-e-Dil’. However, the actor has not done any films either.
After all, he made his mark on television with shows like ‘Mahabharat’ and ‘Shaktiman’.
