A CCTV footage of the accused in the death of a 10-year-old girl in Jaynagar in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal has surfaced. Prior to the incident, the accused had been seen in a store.
In the CCTV footage, the 19-year-old accused was seen wearing a pink shirt, exiting the store and riding a bicycle. Police say he took the minor with him on his bike.
A friend of the victim told police that she had seen the accused and the victim on bicycles. After that, the police were able to identify and arrest the murderer.
In fact, the girl’s body was found by local people on October 5 in the Kultali police station area of Kripakhali area of Jaynagar. She was a fourth class student. The family accused the girl of murder after rape. In protest against the incident, the crowd set fire to the Mahismari police station and pelted stones at the police officers.
CCTV showed the accused talking to a person in the store before the incident.
CM said case should be registered under POCSO CM Mamta demanded to register a case under POCSO Act in this matter and sentence the culprits to death within 3 months. He also said that crime has no color, caste or religion. Media trials of rape cases should be stopped.
Kolkata HC order – redo post-mortem The hearing in the girl’s death case was held in the Calcutta High Court on Sunday. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh ordered a second post-mortem of the girl’s body.
The court held this hearing on the petition filed by the parents of the deceased girl. The court said in the directions – The post-mortem is expected to be conducted on Monday at AIIMS, Kalyani in the presence of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) of Baruipur Court.
The post-mortem should be carried out only by the doctors of Kalyani AIIMS. Justice Ghosh ordered that the police register a case under the POCSO Act. If Kalyani AIIMS does not have the basic facility required for post-mortem, then it should be carried out at Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital, Kalyani.
The court ordered that only doctors from Kalyani AIIMS should conduct the post-mortem. Not a doctor from a public hospital. The girl’s body is currently at PM House in Kantapukur. It was here that the first autopsy of the corpse took place.
The family said the girl had numerous injuries on her body, her arms and legs were broken. The victim’s family has filed a major complaint regarding the incident. The girl’s aunt told news agency ANI that there were many injuries on her body. The hands and legs were broken. The family also accused the police of ignoring the case.
Aunt said the girl went to her classes on October 4th. She disappeared on the way home. Her father tried to look everywhere for the girl but unable to find her, he went to the Mahismari police station. However, the police did not listen to him and asked him to go to Jaynagar police station.
Display Clash between BJP leaders and police
Heavy security forces were deployed in South 24 Parganas to prevent BJP leaders from visiting the police station.
On the other hand, BJP leaders today protested in the district against the incident. West Bengal BJP president Sukant Majumdar, MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato and MP Agnimitra Paul were also among the protesters. During this period, he also clashed with the police.
Jyotirmoy Singh said we wanted to meet the head of the police station but the police had set up barricades. As if we were not deputies but an anti-national element. The police don’t want justice, they just want to save the accused.
Governor said – Rape cases increased due to delay in timely action Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose targeted the state government. He told news agency PTI that rape cases have increased due to lack of prompt action by the state government.
The governor said the negligence with which the West Bengal government handled the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at the Calcutta medical college is giving rise to such incidents in the state. Anand Bose said there was no solution to the violence in Bengal.
On October 5, a mob vandalized and set fire to the Mahismari police station.
People said: The police showed an attitude similar to that in the Kolkata rape and murder case. A local resident claimed that the family had lodged an FIR at the Mahismari outpost after the girl went missing on October 4. However, the police did not take this complaint seriously and took no action. The attitude of the police was the same as that of the Calcutta police after the rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Hospital and the discovery of the body.
The people said, “We will protest until all those accused of raping and murdering our daughter are punished.” Action should also be taken against police officers who were slow to act. If the police had acted immediately, the girl could have been saved.
BJP says: Mamta Banerjee is unable to protect girls in Bengal
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha had protested in Kolkata on October 5 after the girl’s body was found in South 24 Parganas.
Union minister and West Bengal BJP president Sukant Majumdar said, “A Class IV girl returning from her classes in Kripakhali was raped and murdered. The villagers recovered his body from the river bed. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is unable to protect women. Bengali girls are not safe even during Navratri. I want to ask Mamata Banerjee how many more Bengali girls will have to face this fate under your mismanagement.
BJP MP Agnimitra Paul said, “The body of a 9-year-old girl returning from her classes yesterday was found in the canal today. Mamata Banerjee police have not registered an FIR. According to those who saw the girl’s body, her body had injuries similar to those on the body of Abhaya (trainee doctor from Kolkata, rape and murder).
In this case, the corpse must be preserved. The post-mortem should be carried out at a hospital under the central government. I spoke to the girl’s father and he agreed that the body should be kept safe. CM should take responsibility as she is protecting the accused. We will demand death sentence for the accused and a CBI investigation into this matter.

People protested across the country, including in Bengal, against the incident. Young doctors’ protest continues in Bengal. They demand the dismissal of the post of Secretary of Health.
