New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears was injured ahead of the Bengaluru Test against India. He is out of the entire series due to a knee injury. Jacob Duffy got his chance in his place.
New Zealand Cricket said on Tuesday that Sears complained of pain in his left knee during a training session during the Test series against Sri Lanka. He was scanned last week. It was revealed that he was suffering from a meniscus ligament injury in his knee. After doctors’ advice, he was removed from the series. Uncapped bowler Jacob Duffy was chosen to replace him.
The first match of this series will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The second match will be played in Pune and the third in Mumbai.
Jacob played 14 T-20s and 6 ODIs Jacob, Otago’s all-time leading wicket-taker, represented New Zealand in 14 T20s and 6 ODIs. He has 299 first-class wickets to his name.
Jacob was part of New Zealand in the T20 series against India in January last year.
The coach said – I hope he recovers soon Kiwi team head coach Gary Stead said of Sears’ injury that we hope he recovers from his injury soon. We are disappointed for Ben. His presence in the team provides a fast bowling option.
