Vietnamese automaker Vinfast entered the Indian market today (January 18) by unveiling the VF7 and VF6 electric SUVs at the Auto Expo 2025. The company also showcased the VF3, VFe34, VF8, VF9 electric SUVs and the VF Wild van during the event.
The company will launch the VF7 and VF6 electric SUVs in the Indian market for the first time this year. Both cars are expected to arrive by September. India is the first automobile market where the company will launch a right-hand electric car. The company claims it will have a range of up to 450 kilometers.
The VF7 electric SUV can be priced at Rs 50 lakh. Vinfast VF7 is a 5-seater compact electric SUV offered in two variants – Eco and. Its price in India is expected to start from Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
While the price of VF6 is expected to start from Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, these electric cars will compete with the Mahindra XEV 9e, BYD Celiani 7, Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Kia EV6.
1. Vinfast VF7 Electric SUV The VF7 is a fully electric SUV with a 75.3 kWh battery. The company has not yet disclosed the variant of the car. But, for performance, it will have the possibility of choosing between two different electric motors. It will have the option of a single electric motor, which will generate a power of 201 hp and a torque of 310 Nm with front-wheel drive. It will have a range of 450 kilometers on full charge.
Apart from this, the car will also come with a dual electric motor. This configuration generates a power of 348 hp and a torque of 500 Nm with 4-wheel drive. In this, both motors will power all four wheels. It will have a range of 431 km on a full charge.
Vinfast VF7: Exterior Vinfast has given an aerodynamic design to the two electric SUVs, while their interior design inside the cabin is also inspired by the cockpit of an airplane. Stylish LED daytime running lights are provided at the front of the VF7, below which is the headlight. Although it is an electric car, it has a traditional honeycomb grille which makes it attractive.
Raised wheel arches and body cladding are provided on the sides. It has been given recessed door handles like Tata Curve, giving it a premium touch. A connected LED tail light and black colored rear bumper are provided at the rear. The length of the VF7 car is 4,545 mm, its width is 1,890 mm and its height is 1,635 mm, while its wheelbase is 2,840 mm.
Interior: A dual-tone color theme will be available To give a clean look to the cabin of the VF7, only a floating infotainment system has been provided on its dashboard. It has a few driving mode selection buttons at the bottom of the infotainment system, while its center console offers a good amount of storage space. The cabin received plenty of silver accents with a dual-tone color theme. The instrument cluster is not provided in VF7, but it will get a head-up display.
Features: 8 airbags with ADAS Level 2. VinFast VF7 has features such as a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, a head-up display, a panoramic glass roof and a phone charger wireless. At the same time, for safety purposes, it also has many Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Level 2 features, including 8 airbags, electronic stability control, 360-degree camera system which includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and blind spot detection.
Vinfast VF6 electric SUV
The design of this compact electric SUV is futuristic. Its front features elegant, wide LED daytime running lights, below which the headlights are located. The cargo flap is placed in the driver’s side fender, while the alloy wheels look stylish with their two-tone finish. There are connected LED taillights, which resemble the front daytime running lights.
The cabin of the car looks premium due to its dual-tone interior of dark brown and black color. There are soft-touch inserts on the dashboard and door pads. The VF6 is offered in a 5-seater configuration.
Coming to the features, it has a 12.9-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and a head-up display. For safety reasons, the car is equipped with 8 airbags, 360-degree camera and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) like VF7.
Vinfast VF3 Mini Electric
This car is a small 2-door electric vehicle. Once launched, it will be one of the cheapest electric cars in India, which will directly compete with the MG Comet EV and will also be an alternative to the Tata Tiago EV and Tata Tigor EV. Its price is expected to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The overall appearance of the VF3 follows a boxy design language, with a chrome grille bar at the front integrated into the headlights. At the bottom there are black bumpers like Tata Punch at the front and rear, which are integrated with plastic body cladding on the sides, which will be available in VF3 with the option of rims in alloy and steel rims. At the rear, there is also a V-shaped chrome trim on the tailgate, which can be found in the taillights.
