Online food delivery service provider Swiggy has released its ordering trends report. According to them, Biryani was the most ordered dish in the country in 2024. The special thing is that for the last 9 years, Biryani is the most ordered dish in India. This year, two biryani were ordered every second and 158 biryani were ordered in 1 minute in India.
According to Swiggy, Biryani topped the list of most ordered dishes on the platform with 8.3 crore orders in 2024. While Masala Dosa remained at the second place with 2.3 crore orders. Bengaluru also maintained its dominance in masala dosa consumption this year. People ordered 25 lakh dosas there between January 1 and November 22.
The chicken burger is the most popular dish between midnight and 2 a.m. According to Swiggy’s ‘Food Trend Report’, after chicken burger, biryani was the second most popular dish late at night. Maximum orders of 18.4 lakh chicken burger were placed between midnight and 2 am. Chole, Aloo Paratha and Kachori were ordered the most in Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata. Moreover, biryani was one of the most ordered dishes on trains.
Rasmalai and Sitaphal ice creams among favorite treats According to Swiggy’s report, the platform’s fast delivery service, Bolt, has also made headlines. A greedy man in Bikaner got three flavors of ice cream in just 3 minutes, demonstrating the speed of Swiggy’s operations. Rasmalai and Sitaphal ice creams were the favorite among the sweets this year.
1.96 billion kilometers traveled for delivery According to the report, Swiggy’s delivery partners have traveled a total of 1.96 billion kilometers. This is equivalent to traveling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari 5.33 lakh times. Kapil Kumar Pandey tops the list of Swiggy’s top-performing delivery partners, with 10,703 deliveries made in Mumbai. Kalishwari M from Coimbatore remained at the forefront among women partners by delivering 6,658 orders.
