Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the eighth edition of India Mobile Congress at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the eighth edition of the India Mobile Congress today, October 15, in New Delhi. He said that today the price of mobile data in other countries is ten times higher than in India. India has only one mission: to connect the world.

More than 120 countries around the world are participating in this technological event. More than 400 exhibitors and around 900 startups also participated. The technological innovations were showcased to Prime Minister Modi at the IMC 2024 exhibition. The Prime Minister was also accompanied by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2024, which is being convened for the first time by the International Telecommunication Union in India and the Asia-Pacific region. More than 3,000 delegates from over 190 countries participated.

Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also attended the event.

PM said: 120 million mobile users in India, 6 speech points

Over the past ten years, the optical fiber laid by India is eight times the distance between the Moon and the Earth. Two years ago we launched 5G. Today, every neighborhood is connected to 5G. We are now also working quickly on 6G technology. Reforms in the telecommunications sector have led to lower internet data prices. Today, the price of mobile data in India is 12 cents per GB. In other countries, a GB of data costs ten times more. Today, Indians consume an average of 30 GB of data every month. Phones couldn’t be cheap unless we made them in India. In 2014, there were only two mobile manufacturing units. Today there are more than 200. Previously, we imported smartphones from abroad. Today we make six times more phones in India, citing the examples of Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and UPI, PM Modi said ONDC will revolutionize the digital commerce sector. Modi said we have seen during COVID-19 how our digital platforms have made life easier. Today, India is one of the most dynamic countries in the world in terms of telecommunications and related technologies. There are 120 crore or 1,200 million mobile phone users in India. There are 95 crore or 950 million internet users in India. More than 40% of real-time digital transactions take place in India. From the ancient Silk Road to today’s technological road, India has only one mission: to connect the world and open new paths. In such a situation, the partnership between AMNT and IMC is also an inspiring and wonderful message. When local and global meet, the whole world benefits. This is our goal.

Scindia said: DBT transfers show the power of telecom

Speaking at the event, Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “Some of the best examples of the power of telecom are DBT or Direct Benefit Transfer Schemes. These schemes transfer more than Rs 1 crore in direct cash to people’s bank accounts daily. Mobile connections in India have increased from 904 million to 1.16 billion today. There are 924 million broadband connectivity users in India. The OFC in India used to be only 11 million road kilometers, today it is 41 million road kilometers. He said, “By the middle of next year, we will launch 4G service across India. We had the fastest 5G deployment in India. 98 percent of districts and 90 percent of villages covered in just 21 months.

Akash Ambani asked for data center incentive

Therefore, India should immediately adopt AI. “We call on the government to expedite the update of the 2020 draft data center policy. Indian data should only remain in Indian data centers.
