Today, the last trading day of the week, Friday (December 20), a decline is observed in the stock market. Sensex is trading down around 300 points at the level of 78900. At the same time, there is a decline of around 100 points in Nifty, it is trading at the level of 23900.
During Friday’s trading, out of 30 Sensex stocks, 25 fell and only 5 rose. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 37 are down and 13 are up. NSE sectoral indices Nifty Auto are up 0.63%, media 0.91% and oil and gas 0.78%. While bank stocks are falling.
Mixed activity in the global market
In the Asian market, the Japanese Nikkei is up 0.20% and the Korean Kospi is down 1.30%. At the same time, China’s Shanghai Composite Index is trading up 0.54%. According to NSE data, foreign investors’ (FII) net selling on December 19 stood at Rs 4,224.92 crore. During this period, Domestic Investors (DII) purchased shares worth ₹3,943.24 crore. On December 19, the US Dow Jones closed at 42,342 after rising 0.036%. The S&P 500 index fell 0.087% to 5,867 and the Nasdaq fell 0.10% to 19,372.
Opportunity to invest in the IPO of 5 companies
Yesterday, initial public offerings (IPOs) of 5 companies opened for listing on the stock exchange. These include Transrail Lighting Limited, DAM Capital Advisors Limited, Mamta Machinery Limited, Sanathan Textiles Limited and Concord Enviro Systems Limited.
Investors will be able to bid for the five IPOs until December 23. Their shares will be listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on December 27.
There was a sharp drop in the market yesterday
The impact of the federal rate cut in the US and the decline in markets across the world was also seen in the Indian stock market yesterday i.e. Thursday, December 19. Sensex closed at 79,218 with a fall of 964 points. While Nifty also closed 247 points lower at 23,951 level.
Banking, metallurgical and IT stocks fell the most. The Nifty Bank, Metal and IT indices were all down more than 1%. On the other hand, the Pharma and Health index gained more than 1.5%.
Investors’ wealth was reduced by Rs 2.61 lakh crore due to market selling. On December 19, the market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE stood at Rs 449 lakh crore. On December 18, it stood at around Rs 452 lakh crore.
