The stock market experienced a decline on Wednesday, December 18. Sensex lost 502 points and closed at 80,182. At the same time, Nifty also closed down 137 points at 24,198 level.
In Wednesday’s session, out of 30 Sensex stocks, 22 fell and 8 rose. While out of 50 Nifty stocks, 33 saw a decline and 17 saw a rise.
In the NSE sectoral index, Nifty Media fell the most by 2.24%, shares of public sector banks fell by 1.92% and Nifty Metal by 1.36%. On the other hand, the healthcare, IT and pharmaceutical sectors recorded slight growth.

Mixed activity for Asian markets
In the Asian market, Japan’s Nikkei fell 0.21% while Korea’s Kospi rose 0.95%. China’s Shanghai Composite Index is trading up 0.52%. According to NSE data, foreign investors’ (FII) net sales on December 17 stood at Rs 6,409.86 crore. During this period, domestic investors (DII) purchased shares worth Rs 2,706.48 crore. On December 17, the US Dow Jones fell 0.61% and closed at 43,449. The S&P 500 fell 0.39% to 6,050 and the Nasdaq fell 0.32% to 20,109.
5 IPOs open starting tomorrow On December 19, five initial public offerings (IPOs) of companies will open for listing on the stock exchange. These include Transrail Lighting Limited, DAM Capital Advisors Limited, Mamta Machinery Limited, Sanathan Textiles Limited and Concord Enviro Systems Limited.
Investors will be able to bid for the five IPOs until December 23. Their shares will be listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on December 27. …
The market closed down 1,000 points on Tuesday Yesterday, i.e. Tuesday, December 16, the Sensex closed at 80,684 with a decline of 1,064 points. Nifty also fell by 332 points and closed at the level of 24,336. At the same time, the BSE Midcap closed at the level of 47,816 with a fall of 311 points.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 29 fell and 1 rose. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 49 were lower, and only one closed with gains. There was a decline in all sectoral indices of the NSE. Nifty PSU Bank closed with the highest decline of 1.88%. Apart from this, Nifty Metal, Bank, Auto, Pharma also fell by around 2%.
