11 new Kendriya Vidyalayas will open in Madhya Pradesh. The central government’s economic affairs committee approved it. After the approval of this committee headed by Prime Minister Modi, these schools will open in the civil and defense sector.
As an initiative, the central government will open 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. There are currently 112 Kendriya Vidyalayas in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Madhya Pradesh BJP state president VD Sharma expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for getting the new KV in the state.
VD Sharma said this move by the Modi government would help provide better education to students in rural areas.
The center has promised to open 200 new Central Navodaya Vidyalayas by 2024
There are a total of 1,255 Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. The number of Kendriya Vidyalayas in 2013 was 1,092. In its manifesto before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had promised to open 200 new centers, Navodaya Vidyalayas, by 2024. According to information provided by the administration of Kendriya Vidyalaya in response to an RTI, 159 new Kendriya Vidyalayas were constructed during of the eight years of the Modi government between 2015 and 2022.
In August 2023, a parliamentary committee report stated that 235 Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country do not have permanent buildings. According to the report, land was allocated to 184 of the 235 Kendriya Vidyalayas. Of these, 107 Kendriya Vidyalayas are under construction, while construction work is yet to begin in 77.
According to the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya website, there were a total of 661 approved Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country till March 31, 2019. On October 11, 2019, Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal inaugurated 5 new Navodaya Vidyalayas, laid the foundation stone of 9 new Navodaya Vidyalayas and a National Institute of Navodaya leadership.
In the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya committee meeting on October 17, 2019, Ramesh Pokhriyal agreed to open 45 new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). In February 2024, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated another Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kangpokpi district of Manipur. Overall, the government’s promise to open new KVs and Navodaya schools has been fulfilled.
Why are Kendriya Vidyalayas special? The Kendriya Vidyalayas are managed by the Kendriya Vidyalaya organization of the Government of India. They started in 1963. Due to the direct control of the central government over Kendriya Vidyalayas, the standard of education here is considered good. The network of Kendriya Vidyalayas extends across the country. Kendriya Vidyalayas are also open in many other countries.
The curriculum and studies of all Kendriya Vidyalayas are the same. Children are admitted to these schools through the lottery system. Children of central government officials are admitted with priority.
