1. India and China agree on a new patrol system in Ladakh: On October 21, Indian Foreign Ministry Secretary Vikram Misri informed about the major agreement between India and China. Both countries agreed to patrol the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
This could resolve the border dispute between the two countries in eastern Ladakh and also reduce the conflict. Foreign Ministry Secretary Vikram Minsri said Indian and Chinese officials have been discussing the issue for several weeks. Army officers also participated in the talks.
After agreeing on the new patrol system, the two countries can withdraw their armies. Currently, soldiers are not allowed to go to patrol points in Depsang Plain, Demchok. The armies are still present here. The new patrol system is linked to these points. Thus, a conflict like that of Galwan in 2020 can be avoided. On June 15, 2020, China had deployed troops in the border areas of eastern Ladakh under the pretext of exercises. After that, infiltration incidents took place in many places. 5. PM Modi launches airports in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh: On October 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated three airports. New airports have been constructed at Surguja in Chhattisgarh, Rewa in Madhya Pradesh and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. These airports were constructed under the Central Government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN). Flights will soon start operating here.
PM Modi said, “In 2014, there were only 70 airports in our country. Today there are more than 150 airports. Last year, new facilities were built at more than a dozen airports across the country. That is to say one every month. These include Aligarh, Moradabad, Shravasti and Chitrakoot airports.
The name of the new Surguja airport in Chhattisgarh is Maa Mahamaya Airport. Spread over 365 acres, this airport was built at a cost of Rs 80 crore. Currently, only two flights will take off from Rewa airport in Madhya Pradesh. One flight will fly from Singrauli to Rewa and the other from Jabalpur to Rewa. It was built in one and a half years at a cost of Rs 450 crore. The airport was built near the Saharanpur airbase in Uttar Pradesh.
