Director Dibakar Banerjee’s film Tees was screened at this year’s Dharamshala International Film Festival. Recently, he spoke about the film in an interview. Dibakar said Netflix refused to release his film, which made him very depressed. It also had an impact on his personal life. According to Dibakar, he is currently looking for distributors for the film, but so far he has not found anyone.
In conversation with Moneycontrol, Dibakar Banerjee was asked how he felt when Netflix stopped the release of the film Tees. He said: “When Netflix refused to release my film Tees, I became very irritable. Not only was I depressed, but I was also very angry. It also affected my real life. My two daughters said, “Daddy, you’re always angry. After that, I started therapy and was later cured.
Dibakar said, “While shooting for the film Tees, Netflix itself helped us. There was no major problem on his part. But yes, there was some debate regarding the casting and some changes in the film. However, this issue has also been resolved. But suddenly the entire Netflix team has changed and, as often happens in companies, all the decisions of the previous team are either changed or postponed.
Dibakar said: “I didn’t give up and now I find joy in fighting. Unless I consider myself crazy and blind, I will not be able to see that I am part of society. My job is just to make the movie for less money and then leave.
Tees movie has stars like Manisha Koirala, Divya Dutta, Naseeruddin Shah, Huma Qureshi, Shashank Arora, Zoya Hussain.
