Amar Upadhyay will soon be seen in the Hansal Mehta web series “Gandhi”. Recently, in a conversation with Indianewsget, he said a lot of interesting things related to it.
Just seven episodes, but 110 days of shooting
Amar said: “His budget is very important and has been shot in a big way. He has only seven episodes, but it took 110 days to shoot. It was a very big project, in which each scene was finely turned. It is the biggest project of my career so far.
The series has been shot in many countries, especially in Bradford, Birmingham and Scotland in the United Kingdom. Important sequences have also been shot in South Africa. We have shot in the places where Gandhiji has traveled so that history looks real. The shooting was also carried out in places like Pune, Mumbai, Dwarka and Bhuj in India. It was a multi-employment shoot, which made the series larger.
Hansal Sir felt that ILife Perfect for ‘Mehta’
Amar spoke of the preparation of his character: “I did a lot of research on the life of Gandhiji. Hansal Sir asked me to take a test for a role. I went to Mukesh Chhabra’s office and I auditioned it for a different character. But later, I obtained the role of “Pranjeej Mehta”, which was much better for me. I think Hansal Sir felt that I am most fit for this character.
He added: “Pranjeej Mehta is a character deeply linked to Gandhi’s life. This character is also modern and necessary to speak English, Gujarati and Hindi. I felt that this role was the best for me.
Life Mehta’s character is important
Amar said: ‘Life Mehta was an important character in Gandhiji’s life. This role shows Gandhiji’s journey from a different perspective. I am happy to have had the chance to play this role. It is the biggest role of my career and it was a very special experience for me to work on it.
He also said: “Post-production is almost over. It is expected to be released in the middle of this year. We all await him. I am sure that this series will take the public in a historic journey and will show the intact aspects of Gandhiji’s life.
Let me tell you, Prateek Gandhi plays the role of Mahatma Gandhi in this series, while Amar will be seen in the role of his close friend Pranjeevan Mehta.
