Shreyas Talpade, who became the voice of the most popular character in Indian cinema “Pushpa Raj”, after “Pushpa 2”, the second film “Mufasa: The Lion King” is released. The actor voiced the character of Timon in this film. Recently, Shreyas Talpade spoke to Indianewsget about this film. During this, while sharing some special memories from his film ‘Iqbal’, he said that he did not think about commercial cinema while making this film.

We are big fans of Shahrukh Khan

The voices of Shahrukh Khan and his sons will be heard in the Hindi version of ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’. Shahrukh Khan nicknamed the main character of this film Mufasa, Aryan Khan nicknamed Simba and Abram nicknamed the youngster Mufasa. In a way, it has become Shahrukh Khan’s family film. Shreyas Talpade dubbed the character of Timon in this film. He says, “We are big fans of Shahrukh Khan. Very happy to be associated with this film.

Overtaking another character is not easy

Shreyas Talpade has dubbed south cinema superstar Allu Arjun’s films ‘Pushpa’ and ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’. He says, “I have only dubbed two films, but the experience of dubbing in these two films was very different.

We dub our films. It’s very simple, but dubbing for someone else is not easy. While dubbing ‘Pushpa’, one always had to keep in mind what the character might have been thinking at the time of filming. The rest of the dialogues had to be said after understanding their expressions and emotions on screen.

Voice acting for animated characters is completely different

Shreyas Talpade feels that dubbing for animated characters is completely different. According to him, dubbing should be done in one’s own style and language, capturing the tone of the original character. You have to make sure that everyone understands the language. Timon was written in Hindi by Mayur Puri in simple language, but he had to add a few sentences of his own, which the Hindi audience could easily understand. We tried to ensure that the dialogue reached people effectively.

There is always pressure for better performance

Shreyas Talpade says: He had nicknamed the character Timon in “The Lion King”. I knew the character. It was a huge success in 2019. In such a situation, audience expectations increase a bit. There is always pressure for better performances ahead of us. So this is nothing short of a big challenge.

“Pushpa Part One” was found thanks to Timon

Shreyas Talpade entered the world of dubbing professionally with “The Lion King”. He says: Dubbing Timon was my first experience as an artist in the world of dubbing. It was thanks to the character of Timon in this film that I had the opportunity to do dubbing in “Pushpa Part One” and then “Pushpa Part Two”.

Dubbing has now become a parallel industry

Thanks to regional films, dubbing has now become a parallel industry. Shreyas Talpade says, “Basically, dubbing is also an art. This too had to get a respectable place. Today, regional films are released on a pan-Indian scale. Dubbing artists benefit from this. Respect for voice acting artists increased and people began to know them by name. Today, this industry is also growing rapidly.

Iqbal is very close to my heart, I miss him.

Shreyas Talpade started his career as a lead actor with Subhash Ghai’s film ‘Iqbal’. This film received the National Prize. Shreyas Talpade says, “Even today, this film is very close to my heart. I miss this movie a lot. Even today, people meet and discuss this film. When he says that he showed this film to his children, he feels very happy.

I didn’t think I’d get a chance in a commercial film

While sharing an incident related to the film ‘Iqbal’, Shreyas said, ‘Iqbal’ was being screened at the Goa Film Festival. Then I received a call from Subhash Ghai ji that Sangeet Sivan is doing a film ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’, meet him as soon as he returns from Goa.

Subhash Ghai said, “So, will he continue doing ‘Iqbal’ for the rest of his life?

Shreyas Talpade didn’t expect to get a chance to work in a commercial film immediately after ‘Iqbal’. He says: As soon as I heard the name ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’, I thought it was a commercial film. When I shared my thoughts with Subhash Ghai ji. He said, “So, will he continue to do ‘Iqbal’ for the rest of his life and not do commercial films? I said I never thought I would get the chance to work in a commercial film.
