Nana won three national awards during a career spanning 50 years. Veterans like Satyajit Ray and Dilip Kumar were also impressed with his acting.

By the time he was 13, he was walking 10 miles a day. Nana’s father ran a small textile painting business. When Nana was 13, someone defrauded her father. The business collapsed overnight.
All goods have been sold. Nana also had to take to the streets to earn money. He went to school in the morning and painted movie posters in the evening. The distance from the house where he painted posters was 8 kilometers. He thus covered a distance of 16 kilometers per day on foot. He received Rs 35 every month for this work. This happened around 1963.
Money was so tight that sometimes even food was not available. At lunch or dinner time, Nana would quietly go and meet her friends. Hoping that someone in front will ask to eat two chapatis.

Smita Patil abused Ravi Chopra when she was offered the role of a rapist. Smita Patil told Nana BR I sent it to Chopra’s son Ravi Chopra. Ravi Chopra was shooting for the film “Aaj Ki Awaaz” at that time. He offers Nana the role of a rapist. Nana became furious after hearing the offer. He abused Ravi in front of everyone. There was a fight between Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Nana Patekar during the shooting of the film Parinda. Vidhu himself admitted this on a reality show.

To prepare for this film based on the military past, Nana had undergone a military training program for three years, during which he was awarded the honorary rank of captain.
Nana served in the Indian Army during the Kargil War with Pakistan in 1999. However, there is an interesting story behind it.
Nana called a senior army officer and expressed her desire to join the army. The officer said you are an ordinary citizen, we can’t hire you into the army. Nana then called George Fernandes, the country’s then defense minister.
