Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently faced controversy due to an advertisement. A Hindu organization accused him of tarnishing the image of the Maharashtra police. They demanded legal action against them.
According to the Free Press Journal report, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has appealed to the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Police Chief to take action against Nawazuddin. He claims that by playing the role of a police officer in an advertisement for online games, he has damaged the image of the Maharashtra Police. This organization accused Siddiqui of defaming the police by promoting an online betting app in a police uniform. His committee said the ad was insulting to law enforcement.
Maharashtra State Coordinator of Surajya Abhiyan Abhishek Murukate has written a letter to the state DGP and Mumbai Police Commissioner, demanding action against Nawazuddin and online gaming app owner Ankur Singh. The letter calls for strict legal action under the Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1979, and the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951.
The letter expressed concern that the same police who arrested the players were involved in this controversy. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti condemned the ad. He believes that if this issue is ignored, there could be an increase in advertisements misusing police uniforms.
The letter said, “This tarnishes the image of Maharashtra Police. Ignoring this could make the problem of illegal ads even worse. He also urged Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to pay attention to this issue.
Murukate appreciated the hard work of the Maharashtra Police. He added that this advertisement shows that playing online gambling improves their skills. He also regretted that so far no police officer has taken action against this gaming application. He expressed hope that the Minister of the Interior will pay attention to it.
On the professional front, Nawazuddin was recently seen in the film ‘Adbhut’.
