Nawazuddin Siddiqui is an actor who has worked with all three Khans of Bollywood. Recently, at the ‘Yanta’ music video launch, the actor shared his experience of working with the three Khans of Bollywood. He said that Shahrukh Khan is an amazing mimicry artist. When he copied producer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra during the shooting of the film ‘Raees’, he felt like Vidhu Vinod Chopra had arrived. We see you dancing for the first time in the “Yanta” music video. What kind of preparations needed to be made for the dance?
Look, I’m not a dancer at all. Before shooting the song, choreographer Amit Sial had taught me a few steps. When I arrived on set, I forgot everything. The support system of choreographer and co-actor and singer Renuka Panwar was good during the shoot. Somehow I managed to dance. It was the first time I enjoyed dancing while filming. “Yanta” itself means pleasure. There is also a fun dance in this clip.
Who do you consider to be a good dancer in Bollywood?
In my opinion, Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda are very good dancers. The special thing about their dance is that they dance in such a way that even I can dance after seeing it. There are other good dancers in Bollywood, but I can’t dance like them, so I’m not interested in them.
How do you find time for music videos in your busy schedule?
When I heard the song “Yanta” for the first time, I couldn’t help it. It’s a very rhythmic song. People remember music for a long time. The number of millions of views the music gets. Few people watch movies.
If we look at the great stars of the past, music played a huge role in their progression. When we remember Dev Anand and Dilip Kumar Sahab, the songs filmed on them before their films come to our mind.
When the songs filmed on Dev Anand and Dilip Kumar were played, it was known which singer had given the vocals. Who can become your voice today as a singer?
Today, times have changed a lot. This change is probably due to today’s musicians and singers. Today, people don’t think about which singing voice can match which star. Today, singers are known for their voices. Just look at Diljit Dosanjh, he is known for his voice. He has a huge number of fans.
If you have the opportunity to sing, will you sing?
I’m a very bad singer. I can’t sing at all. I have a very good ear and listen to good songs. I like listening to all types of songs. If there is charm in someone’s voice, it draws me to them. Although all the singers are on the same tune, some have a different flavor in their singing.
You are an actor who has worked with all three Khans of Bollywood. Share some special stories related to him. Let’s start with Aamir Khan?
I did my first film “Sarfarosh” with Aamir Khan. After that, he produced the film “Peepli Live”. The subject of this film was very artistic. At that time, no one was tackling such a topic, but Aamir Sahab produced this film. It was a big thing for us. What makes him most special is that he has a very good idea of the storyline and the type of audience who will watch the film.
What would you like to say about Shahrukh and Salman Khan?
The thing about Shahrukh Khan, sir, is that he rehearses a lot before shooting. He is a very hardworking actor. It’s a lot of fun working with Salman Bhai. He would give me his dialogue in advance so I could speak.
Any special story while filming with Shahrukh Khan?
We were shooting the film “Raees” in Gujarat. We were sitting once at night. He imitates Vidhu Vinod Chopra very well. He is an incredible mimicry artist. When he imitated Vidhu Vinod Chopra, I felt like he was coming from the front.
