There is a big news of relief for filmmaker Vasu Bhagnani. Mumbai’s Bandra court has ordered the Bandra police to register an FIR against director Ali Abbas Zafar, co-producer Himanshu Mehra and others for fraud and forgery. This case is related to the 2024 film Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan.
On September 3, 2024, Vasu Bhagnani had accused Ali Abbas Zafar and Himanshu Mehra of Bandra police of fraud, forgery and cheating of millions of rupees. He said that during the filming of the film, false documents were signed in his name. However, the police took no action. After this, Vasu had requested the court to register an FIR.
The court said on December 2, 2024 that a huge amount of money was involved in this fraud and it was spread across many places. The court also said that the help of many agencies will have to be sought to collect evidence and that many documents could be involved. The allegations are serious and the matter deserves to be heard and cannot be granted bail. After this, the court ordered the Bandra police to register an FIR under sections 120-B, 406, 420, 465, 468, 471, 500 and 506, r/w.34 of the IPC.
Vasu Bhagnani now hopes to get justice soon as the case will soon be settled under the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023. This case once again brings the controversies of the film Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan to the forefront.
For several months, there has been a legal dispute between Vashu Bhagnani and Ali Abbas Zafar regarding the film Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan. Vasu and Jackky Bhagnani accused Zafar of embezzling the grant received from Abu Dhabi and hijacking the film. Apart from this, he also said that Zafar and his partners had hatched a criminal conspiracy.
This complaint was filed by Vasu when Ali Abbas Zafar complained to the Federation of Western India Cinema Employees (FWICE) about non-payment of Rs 7.30 crore, which he was supposed to get for the making of the film.
Ali Abbas Zafar has not yet made any public statement on this controversy. FWICE members asked him to testify. Pooja Entertainment rejected Zafar’s allegations, saying the dues were calculated through compensation.
Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff are playing the lead roles in the film. It was released in April 2024. However, the film received a disappointing reception from the audience.
In July 2024, news came from the country’s famous filmmaker Vasu Bhagnani that he had not paid Rs 65 lakh to the crew members working on his film. For this, the Federation of Western India Cinema Employees (FWICE) had to intervene. He put pressure on Vasu, after which last month, i.e. August, he released the money to the crew members.
