The accident occurred during the construction of a factory in Kadi town of Mehsana.
Earth fell on workers digging a reservoir in Mehsana district of Gujarat on Saturday. 9 workers died in the accident. The 19-year-old boy was rescued alive. The accident took place near Jasalpur village, around 37 km from Mehsana.
Police said several workers were digging an underground tank for a factory in Jasalpur village when the ground collapsed. The 9 bodies were found.
While workers were digging the Steel Inox Stainless Private Limited tank, some earth suddenly collapsed. After the accident, the land was removed with the help of JCB. Five ambulances, teams of police officers and firefighters also arrived on site.

The workers came from a private company. Mehsana district SP Dr Tarun Duggal said construction work of a new company was underway in Kadi village, when the accident occurred. The workers would come from a private company. Administration officials also arrived on site. The accident remains under investigation.
District Development Officer (DDO) Mehsana Dr Hasrat Jasmine said the accident occurred around 12:45 p.m. According to our information, 9 to 10 people were stuck there. A 19-year-old boy was rescued alive. According to his statement, 10 people worked here. Two of them were women.
Assistance of Rs 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s Relief Fund Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident. He said the administration would provide all possible assistance to those affected. Assistance of Rs 2 lakh each was announced to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Assistance of Rs 4 lakh each was announced to the families of the deceased from the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
