His nephew Yugendra Pawar is contesting against Ajit Pawar in the Baramati seat. Both filed their candidacy on Monday.
Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on Monday said, “NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar has created a division in the family and fielded a candidate against him. Earlier, I had made a mistake, but it seems that now other people (Sharad Pawar) are also making mistakes.
Ajit said, “Politics should not be brought to such a low level as it takes time for generations to unite and it does not take even a moment to break a family.”
Ajit said this at a rally after filing his nomination papers from Baramati headquarters on Monday. Besides him, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray has filed nominations. Shinde has filed nomination from Kopri Pachpakhadi in Thane and Thackeray has filed nomination from Mahim seat.
Why did Ajit make this allegation about Sharad Pawar?

Yugendra said – the fight is not difficult, but not easy either. Yugendra said – the fight against Ajit Pawar will not be difficult, but it will not be easy either. The people of Baramati are with Pawar Saheb. Pawar Saheb had also shown the same in the Lok Sabha. It’s quite sad and unfortunate that this all happens in the family. It started with the Lok Sabha elections.
Previously, Ajit was under the leadership of party founder and family leader Sharad Pawar Saheb, but what happened in the last few years was seen by the whole of India. After the party split, the Election Commission also handed over the election symbol to him.
However, all of us family members decided to stick with Pawar Saheb as he is the founder of NCP. He is the head of the family and because of him, not only Baramati but all the people around have developed.
Sharad Pawar said – Humbly accept the mandate. Sharad Pawar said – 57 years ago, I had come from Baramati for the first time to file a nomination. Since then, people have loved him continuously. Since then, I have been associated with the people of Baramati. My suggestion to all young candidates is to maintain contact with people. Be polite and accept the mandate politely.
Sharad Pawar said the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) had reached consensus on 90-95 per cent of the 288 seats in the state. Our fight is against those who have created divisions within political parties and compromised on ideology. Those in power have not solved the problems of the people.
