India News Get -BJP National Meet 2024 Update; Organizational election | Bharatiya Janata Festival

Party president JP Nadda, organization general secretary BL Santosh, all national general secretaries, state president, state organization general secretary and election officer of the organization were present at the meeting.

There will soon be a major reshuffle at the organizational level of the BJP. In the new year, the party could have a new national president in the last week of January or the first week of February.

However, according to the party statutes, before that, organizational elections must be held in 50 percent of the states.

Apart from this, state presidents will also be changed in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Jammu Kashmir and Jharkhand by January 15.

A party meeting was held in Delhi on Sunday regarding organizational elections, during which these elections were discussed.

Besides party president JP Nadda and general secretary of the organization BL Santosh, all the national general secretaries and election in-charges and co-in-charges of the organization were present.

Besides, State Presidents, Organization Ministers and State Election Officials also attended the meeting.

The BJP meeting focused on the election of mandal, district and state representatives.

Nadda’s tenure was extended due to the Lok Sabha Assembly elections. JP Nadda was appointed working president of the party in June 2019 and full-time president in January 2020. The term of office of the party president is 3 years.

In this sense, Nadda’s term ended in 2023. His term was extended in view of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

According to the BJP constitution, a person can remain president continuously for a maximum of two terms.

After Nadda joined the Union Cabinet, his chances of becoming president again are over. The reason is the BJP’s “one person, one position” rule.

Age limit set for post, importance given to youth BJP has already fixed the age limit to give importance to youth in its organization. For this, the age of the Mandal President to be formed within the districts has been fixed between 35 and 45 years.

At the same time, the age of the district president will be between 45 and 60 years. It is also necessary that the district president has work experience in the organization for 7-8 years. The goal is to complete their elections by January 15.

A person who has been the mandal or district president for two consecutive terms will not be lucky for the third time. It was also decided that only one person holding a position within the organization will be appointed as the district president.

At the start of the meeting, tribute was paid to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh by maintaining 2 minutes of silence. Meanwhile P. Bengal President Sukanta Majumdar and Maharashtra President Chandrashekhar Bawankule were also present.

Electoral officials were appointed in October. The BJP had appointed in-charges for the internal party elections on the same day (October 15) that the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand were announced.

Party president JP Nadda had appointed Dr K. Laxman, Rajya Sabha MP from Telangana, as the state election in-charge. Laxman has been the national president of OBC Morcha since 2020.

His name was also discussed for national president, but after he was put in charge of national elections, these speculations ended.

Apart from this, Naresh Bansal, Rekha Verma and Sambit Patra have been appointed as joint national election agents. All national general secretaries and other officials of the party have been appointed as observers from different states.

What is the election process for the post of president in the BJP? There are clear instructions in the party constitution for the election of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president. Arrangements for the election of the national president have been made under Article 19 of the party statutes. According to article 19, the president of the party will be elected by an electoral college. It will be composed of members from the National Council and the Councils of State. The party’s statutes stipulate that this election will take place according to the rules determined by the National Executive.

To be elected president, you must have been a senior member of the party for at least 15 years. It is written on the very page of article 19 that a total of 20 members of the electoral college will propose the name of a person eligible for election to the position of National President.

This joint proposal must also come from at least 5 states where elections to the National Council have taken place. Apart from this, the candidate’s approval on the nomination paper is also required for such elections.

According to the BJP Constitution, the national president can be elected only after organizational elections of at least 50%, i.e. in half of the states. In this context, in 15 of the country’s 29 states, the national president of the BJP is elected only after the organization’s elections.

What is the National Council? Within this framework, 10 percent of the party’s members of Parliament are elected, the number of which must not be less than ten. If the total number of deputies is less than ten, all will be elected. All former party national presidents, state presidents, party leaders of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, party leaders of all state assemblies and legislative councils will be members of the council.

Apart from this, a maximum of 40 members can be appointed by the national president. All members of the National Executive also participate. The presidents and coordinators of various fronts and cells are also members. Everyone must pay a contribution of Rs 100.

How many terms can a person remain president? According to the official BJP website, as per Article 21 of the party’s constitution, any member can only remain president for two consecutive terms of 3 years each. A term of 3 years has also been set for each executive, council, committee and its officers and members. According to the party statutes, the main condition for becoming a member of the BJP is that the person should be 18 years or above. In addition, he must not be associated with any other party.

Organizational structure of the BJP: The entire organization of the BJP is divided into around seven parts, from the national level to the local level. At the national level there is the National Council and the National Executive, at the state level there is the State Council and the State Executive. Then come the regional committees, the district committees, the divisional committees. Then come the village and urban centers and local committees are also formed. A local committee is formed with a population of less than five thousand inhabitants.
