The blast took place near CRPF School around 7:30 am on Sunday morning in Prashant Vihar area of Delhi’s Rohini Sector 14. Police officials said no one was injured in the incident. The wall of the CRPF school, nearby shops and a few cars were damaged.
Police said a post-explosion video also surfaced on social media, in which thick smoke was visible. The bomb squad, forensic team, crime branch and special cell along with the fire brigade reached the spot to investigate.
Security agencies have expressed concern over the blast in Delhi during the festival season. According to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team sources, in the initial investigation report, the material used in the blast is like a crude bomb, but the official information will be available only after receiving the full report .
Shops in Prashant Vihar market were damaged in the blast.
Police obtained information about the explosion through a PCR call Police officials said, “On Sunday at 7:47 am, a PCR call was received. The caller informed that there was a blast with loud noise near CRPF School in Sector 14, Rohini. Local people said: “We thought there was an explosion in the gas cylinder. Hearing the sound of the explosion, people came out of their homes and shops. Sumit, who runs an eyeglass shop near the place, said, “The windows of my shop were broken. All the goods inside my shop fell to the floor. There was a very loud explosion. »
Rakesh Gupta, a resident of the area, said, “Around 7.30 am, we heard a very loud noise. We thought an LPG cylinder had exploded nearby. The windows of many shops were broken.”
