The Republic Day parade begins every year from India Gate.

BJP Minority Morcha national president Jamal Siddiqui demanded to change the name of India Gate to Bharat Mata Dwar. Jamal wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi, in which he said that changing the name would be a true tribute to the country’s 10,000 martyred soldiers.

Jamal said, “You have named Aurangzeb Road, built in honor of the cruel Mughal, as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road. The statue of George V at the India Gate was removed and the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was replaced. Rajpath was renamed Dutva Path. Similarly, the name of India Gate should be changed to Bharat Mata Dwar.
