India News Get -NationalDelhi AAP Senior Citizens’ Pension Scheme Benefits; Arvind Kejriwal | 2025 election
On November 21, the AAP released the first list of 11 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections.
Ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi, the AAP government announced the resumption of the pension scheme for senior citizens. 80,000 new seniors were added to the program. Previously, 4.50 people benefited from this system. From now on, more than five million elderly people will be affected by this program.
Senior citizens between 60 and 69 years will receive Rs 2,000 every month. While those aged above 70 years will receive Rs 2,500 per month. Announcing the project, former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said he came out of jail with the blessings of his seniors. This program is to thank them.
The current term of the Delhi Assembly ends on February 23, 2025. Elections could be held in the next two months. The last parliamentary elections took place in February 2020, in which the Aam Aadmi Party won an absolute majority and 62 seats out of 70.
Kejriwal said – The pension is double that of the previous governments. Arvind Kejriwal, while addressing a press conference in Delhi on Monday, said that the highest pension was given to the country’s senior citizens in Delhi. In other states where there is a dual engine government, pensions are very low. In Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, one gets Rs 500 per month and in Assam, Rs 600 per month.
When our government came in 2015, we doubled the pension in Delhi. Earlier governments provided Rs 1,000 every month to people aged 60 to 69 years. We did this in 2000. The allowance for people aged above 70 years was increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 per month.
The AAP had launched the ‘Discussion on Rewari’ campaign on November 22.
There was also talk about the announcement to give Rs 1,000 to women every month.
The AAP’s ‘Discussion on Revadi’ campaign began on November 22. Kejriwal had then said that 65,000 meetings would be held across Delhi. Will distribute pamphlets containing 6 free “Revdis” from our government.
He had said: “We have done a lot of work in Delhi. We offered 6 free “Rewaris” facilities to the people of Delhi. We want to ask the people of Delhi whether they want these ‘Rewaris’ or not.
Kejriwal had said, “AAP workers will ask voters what BJP has done for Delhi in the last 10 years, as the national capital is half of a state, here the central government has as much power as We. The BJP is in power in 20 states. They do not provide these free “Revadis” even in a single state. That’s because that’s not their intention. Only AAP knows how these facilities are provided. The BJP has only stopped the work of the Delhi government.
PM Modi has repeatedly said that Kejriwal is giving ‘Rewari’ for free, this should stop. We say yes, we are giving this free “Rewari”.
