A man attempted suicide by setting himself on fire on Wednesday afternoon in front of the railway building near the New Parliament House in Delhi. According to doctors, the young man suffered 95% burns.
According to a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official, the call came in at 3:35 p.m. It was about youths setting fires. With that, we sent a vehicle to the location.
The officer said that security personnel of the railway building and others together extinguished the youth’s fire with a blanket, after which he was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.
According to media reports, police said the youth’s name was Jitendra and he was a resident of Baghpat, UP. A half-burnt 2-page suicide note, gasoline, a burnt bag and a shoe were found at the spot.
Police said barricades were erected at the spot where the youth set himself on fire. Due to a domestic dispute, Jitendra attempted suicide.

Family members in prison, leading to suicide attempt
According to police, Jitendra’s family had a dispute with another family in Baghpat. For this reason, several members of his family are in prison. She was sad about it. He had arrived in Delhi from Baghpat that morning itself.
After that, he set himself on fire in the garden near the railway building and ran towards Parliament. The people present at the scene put out the fire.

There was an infiltration incident at Parliament House on December 13, 2023. Manoranjan D, Neelam Azad, Sagar Sharma, Amol Shinde, Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat were arrested in this case.
