India News Get -NationalSharad Pawar; Controversy over Maharashtra Election 2024 results | Devendra Fadnavis
Sharad Pawar participated in the protest against the EVM at Markadwadi village in Solapur on Sunday.
NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar has raised questions over the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Pawar said, “It is true that we lost. We should not worry but should address the people because there is no enthusiasm among the people regarding the result. There is a lot of resentment.”
Pawar had said in Kolhapur on Saturday that the comparison between votes received by political parties and seats won in the elections was startling. The Congress got 80 lakh votes and 15 seats, while Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena got 79 lakh votes and 57 seats.
Pawar said, Ajit Pawar’s NCP got 58 lakh votes and 41 seats, while my party NCP (SP) got 72 lakh votes and we won only 10 seats. These figures are surprising.
Regarding Sharad Pawar’s statement, CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “As a senior leader, Sharad Pawar should not mislead the country. If you accept defeat, you will come out of it. I hope you will advise your colleagues to do some introspection.

1. On government promises: Pawar said the opposition’s priority would be to ensure that all election promises made by the ruling coalition are implemented as quickly as possible. This includes increasing the financial assistance given to women under the Ladki Bahin scheme from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100.
2. On Opposition Leader: Pawar said: No opposition party in the Assembly has the required number of 10 per cent, or 29 MLAs. Opposition parties cannot demand that the opposition leader be appointed.
He said: “In the 1980s, when the number of MPs from his own party had fallen to 6 due to defections, he still became leader of the opposition for a year, after which Mrinal Gore and Nihal Ahmed became opposition leaders. Because the opposition had decided to change the positions by rotation.
3. On separation of SP from MVA: On separation of Samajwadi Party Maharashtra state president Abu Azmi from MVA, Pawar said:- SP central leadership led by Akhilesh Yadav is firm on the fact that opposition unity is necessary. He avoided the question of Shiv Sena praising those who demolished Babri Masjid by making an announcement in a newspaper.
4. On the discovery of a wad of notes in Rajya Sabha: Pawar said on the discovery of a wad of Rs 500 notes in Rajya Sabha: it should be investigated how this wad reached the seat of ‘an MP (Abhishek Manu Singhvi of Congress). He is a senior leader and a great Supreme Court lawyer.
