30% of food products failing to meet safety standards is a very alarming figure, as this figure does not exceed 17% worldwide. The number of food samples failing laboratory tests nationwide is 22%. In terms of adulteration, Rajasthan is number one in the country and Jaipur is also number 1 in the state.
Between January 1 and August 30, 16,691 food samples were collected across Rajasthan, of which 27% were found to be seriously adulterated. Investigation revealed that the stems were mixed with red chili powder. To give the chutney a fresh appearance, chemical colors were used. The wheat bran was colored and mixed with coriander powder. The same oil was used several times to fry the Kachori-Samosas. The Department of Food Safety has also imposed sanctions on the culprits, but these foods arriving in our kitchens can cause serious health problems.
