The PCB on Monday announced the appointment of Aaqib Javed as interim head coach.

Former fast bowler Aaqib Javed has been appointed as caretaker coach of Pakistan white-ball cricket team till Champions Trophy-2025. PCB on Monday announced the appointment of Javed as coach. The board released a statement saying that Javed would also continue to work as a selector. In such a situation, he will have to assume double responsibility.

Javed, a 52-year-old former fast bowler, will replace Australian Gary Kirsten. After Kirsten’s resignation, the position of white ball coach was vacant. Javed works as the facilitator of the team selection committee.

Gillespie will coach the Test team on the tour of South Africa. PCB said Red Ball head coach Jason Gillespie recently coached the team on the Australia tour. He will now join the team for the upcoming two-Test series in Africa.

A day earlier, reports had claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board was going to ax Gillespie, although the board did not deny the reports.

Pakistan will host three series before the Champions Trophy team plays a 3-match ODI and 3-T-20 series in Zimbabwe this month. This series will run from November 24 to December 5. Next, the team will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20s in South Africa between December 10 and 22. Additionally, Pakistan will also host an ODI tri-series with New Zealand and South Africa from February 8-14 before the 2025 Champions Trophy.
