Australian batsman Matthew Wade has announced his retirement from international cricket. He will now be part of the technical staff of the Kangaroo team. Wade will play the role of wicketkeeping and fielding coach in the home T20 series against Pakistan.

8 months ago, in March this year, he had announced his retirement from first-class cricket, i.e. red-ball cricket, after playing in the Sheffield Shield final. Matthew Wade played his last international match for Australia against India in the T-20 World Cup. Wade, who played in all three formats for Australia, played 36 Test matches, 97 One-Day matches and 92 T-20 Internationals for Australia during his 13-year career.

Wade coached the national team. Wade coaches Tasmania’s youth and second XI teams. Ben Oliver, High Performance and Executive General Manager of the Australian team, congratulated Matthew Wade on his international career and said we look forward to benefitting from Matthew’s experience as a coach.

Matthew Wade, 36, who did not get a place in the Test and ODI squad from 2021, made his debut for Australia in 2011. Wicketkeeper batsman Wade did not get the chance to play in ODI and Test since 2021. He was one of the heroes of Australia’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2021. In the semi-final against Pakistan, he took Australia in the final by hitting three sixes against Shaheen Afridi.

Matthew Wade played his last Test match against India on January 15, 2021 at the Gabba.
