Devjit Saikia of the Assam Cricket Association replaced Jay Shah. Shah is now the chairman of ICC.

Devjit Saikia became BCCI secretary, while Prabhtej Singh Bhatia was elected treasurer. Both were elected unopposed at the BCCI AGM on Sunday. Saikia and Bhatia had filed nominations last week. Apart from him, no one else filled out the application form.

Saikia had taken over from former secretary Jai Shah in December last year. He was appointed acting secretary. Jay Shah was appointed as ICC president, which saw him quit as BCCI secretary.

Devjit Saikia was the joint secretary of the BCCI from 2019 to 2024.

Saikia is part of the Assam Cricket Association. Devjit Saikia was appointed as interim secretary of the BCCI on December 6 itself. It is part of the Assam Cricket Association. He replaced Jai Shah. Earlier, it was reported that Arun Jaitley’s son Rohan Jaitley would become secretary, but last month, the name of joint secretary Saikia was floated.

On the other hand, Bhatia is part of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association. He will take over as treasurer in place of Ashish Shelar. Ashish became a member of the Maharashtra government and as per rules, central and state government ministers cannot be part of the BCCI.

Devjit Saikia had attended the ICC meeting in Dubai last month as a BCCI representative.

Shah was honored at the AGM. Election official AK Joti, while releasing the results, said, “The election for the two posts of secretary and treasurer was held unopposed and hence there was no need to vote.” Shah was honored by the BCCI on Saturday. He was also welcomed at the SGM.
