India’s winning campaign continues in the Chess Olympiad. Indian team is leading the points table with 16 matches after 8 rounds. While in women, India is leading with 14 match points. There are still three rounds left. The 11th and final round of the tournament will be played on September 22.

In the ongoing tournament in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, the Indian team beat Iran 3.5-0.5 in the 8th round on Thursday, while the women’s team had to face a defeat against the Poland for the first time by 1.5-2.5.

There are 4 individual matches in each round of the Chess Olympiad. One point is awarded for each victory in the match, while half a point is awarded for a tie. Then, the winner of this round is decided based on the total points.

Open category: Arjun, Gukesh and Gujarati won, Praggnananda drew In the 8th round of the Open category, young Indian grandmasters D Gukesh and Arjun Erigaysi won with the black pieces, while Vidit Gujarati won the match with the white pieces.
