Legendary West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has become the mentor of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. He will replace Gautam Gambhir at KKR.

Bravo had announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on Thursday evening. Barely 11 hours later, he assumed the responsibility of mentoring KKR. He wrote in the Insta post: “My mind wants to play, but the body doesn’t support me. I don’t want to put myself in a position that will let down my teammates, my fans and my team. It is therefore with good heart that I announce my retirement.

The 40-year-old cricketer had declared before the season that this would be his last season, but due to injury he had to announce his retirement amid the Caribbean Premier League. Bravo had said goodbye to IPL last year. He has taken 631 wickets in 582 T-20 matches played so far. He is the bowler taking the most wickets in this format.

KKR informed of its intention to become Bravo’s mentor through this message

Bravo wrote- I was able to achieve my dreams because I always gave 100% Bravo wrote in the Insta post: “21 years as a professional cricketer – it has been an incredible journey, with many ups and downs.” He wrote: “Most importantly, I was able to achieve my dreams because I always gave my 100%, even though I want to continue, but now it’s time to face reality.”

Win the CPL, IPL, PSL and Big Bash League Bravo has won franchise tournaments like the Caribbean Premier League, Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League and Big Bash with different teams during his 18-year T20 career. Not only that, he also won the T-20 World Cup twice with the West Indies.

Bravo won the ILT20 title with MI Emirates this year.

Says goodbye to international cricket in 2021 Bravo retired from international cricket 3 years ago in 2021, but apart from playing in franchise cricket, he is also a coach. Bravo has worked with IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings for the past 12 months. He was also appointed as Afghanistan’s bowling consultant in the 2024 T-20 World Cup.
