Rohit Sharma, Indian captain
I can’t digest the Test match and the series defeat. We recognize that we didn’t play well and that New Zealand did better than us. We made a lot of mistakes. In the first two matches we didn’t put any points on the scoreboard and in this match the target could have been chased but we failed as a unit. When I go to bat, I go with a specific idea but I didn’t get results in this series and so I am very disappointed. Pant, Washington and Gill showed us how to play on such pitches. This was a series where our efforts failed. Even as captain I failed and I myself did not perform well. We could not perform well as a team, which became the reason for the defeat.

Tom Latham, New Zealand captain
I’m very happy considering how the series started and this situation. It’s entirely a team effort. Daryl Mitchell performed well in the last match and Ajaz Patel performed well in this match. Our players played very well. We have tried to adapt to all areas. The seamers worked in Bengaluru, with different players performing at different times.
