BMW India launched the BMW M5 Performance sedan in the Indian market on Thursday (November 21). This seventh generation model is the most powerful M5 in history. The company claims that the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 in just 3.5 seconds.

Its price has been kept at Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom, Pan-India). The car will be sold as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The BMW M5 competes with the Mercedes-AMG C63 SE Performance, priced at Rs 1.95 crore.

Many color options are available in the car.

Design: slim headlights with integrated LED DRL. The new generation M5 is built on the 5 Series platform and the design is also inspired by it. Its front features an illuminated frame with a new closed grille, equipped with sensors and radar for the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). Apart from that, it gets slim headlights with integrated LED DRL, a new taillight and an aerodynamically optimized rear diffuser.

The standard M Carbon exterior package will also be offered with the M5 in India. Carbon fiber elements were provided in certain places of its roof, thanks to which its weight was reduced by 30 kg. The car features 20-inch front and 21-inch rear M light-alloy wheels with M compound brakes.

Cabin: Dual-screen setup with ambient lighting The BMW M5 cabin features high-quality merino leather with M multifunction seats with illuminated M logo, a newly designed M steering wheel, unique ambient lighting and a dual screen setup. It includes a 12.3-inch driver display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apart from that, the car comes standard with an 18-speaker, 655-watt Bower & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System.

Performance: Top speed of 250 kilometers per hour. For performance, the new BMW M5 is equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 biturbo gasoline engine, which generates a power of 585 hp and a torque of 750 Nm. At the same time, the electric motor generates a power of 197 hp and a torque of 280 Nm.

This hybrid setup together generates a power of 727 hp and a torque of 1,000 Nm. For the transmission, the engine is tuned with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. An 18.6 kWh battery is supplied with the electric motor, with which the car can travel 69 kilometers in pure EV mode.

The company claims that the new BMW M5 with the hybrid powertrain takes 3.5 seconds to accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour, while it takes 10.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 200 kilometers per hour.

The top speed of this performance sedan is 250 kilometers per hour, which can be increased to 305 kilometers per hour with the optional M Drive package. Its top speed in pure EV mode is 140 kilometers per hour.

Feature: Advanced driver assistance system for safety. The new generation M5 Performance has performance-related features such as an adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled damper, rear-wheel steering, multiple driving modes and a head-up display. For added safety, the car is also equipped with the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which provides functions such as rear collision warning and lane departure warning with assist.
